New Look

Intorducing the new look for my wedding photography, aptly titled "Lane Weddings". I wanted to combine classic elements with contemporary. I thought my logo should reflect my photography, which is hopefully a combination of elegant, simple and fun. Here's a reminder as to what the old logo looked like:

I've always liked the contemporary stylings of the font (century gothic) in my former logo. But it looks drab and cold. I was using it some with the scripted "L" that you see on the new logo. That helped, but it still needed an inspired face lift.

The decision to drop my last name from my branding was not an easy one. I think "Hickenbottom"--being as long as it is--has a certain amount of recall-ability to it. If you have seen it once, you will likely recognize it when you see it again. That said, the length really makes it hard for people to remember how to spell it. Plus it requires such a LOOOOOONG horizontal space to fit it anywhere.

I also am dropping the "photography". I think any place where I use "Lane Weddings" the context will make it obvious to know that it's about photography. Actually "Lane Weddings" will have the potential to be a sub-category of an umbrella company called "Lane Photographics".

Finally, I plan on moving the web site from http://lhweddings.com to http://laneweddings.com.

With the changes, I hope to continue improve my service to my wedding clients. It's still my goal to provide the best wedding photography in Grand Island, Lincoln, Omaha and the rest of Nebraska.

More of Rachel and Matt

Here are a few more pics from Matt and Rachel's wedding last Saturday

There was some really cool sky that day, but the wind kept us from shooting many photos outdoors. I'd prefer to be outside for the portraits, but sometimes Nebraska weather just doesn't cooperate.

I managed to get a few shots of the couple in Rachel's MG before their wedding guests trashed it with confetti and celophane.

Congrats to Rachel and Matt!

Introducing Matt and Rachel Boshart. The two were married yesterday in a very nice ceremony at the Tri-City Christian Church in Grand Island. Following the ceremony the wedding party took a quick trip to Hall County park for a quick beer, a little goofing off and some pictures.

The reception was held at Babel's Barn in Wood River. A great dinner catered by The Roman of Kearney was served followed by a high-energy dance party.

This was a great wedding to shoot. Both Matt and Rachel were good at ingnoring me and letting me do my thing. Their families were both made up of good, salt-of-the earth type people. I'll post a few more images in the next few days as I continue to work on their pictures.

A quick 1-minute portrait session during sunset nets nice results.

Wedding Planning Workshop

Tomorrow I'll have a table at the Wedding Planning Workshop hosted by the Nebraska Wedding Guide at the Grand Island Liederkranz.

The event is free for brides to attend with the intent of providing a stress free environment for them to meet with wedding vendors.

It will be held from 11a.m. until 4p.m.

Maybe I'll see you there?

Beginnings

I just set up this blog. This is my second photo blog. The first one, found at http://lanehickenbottom.com I set up almost 5 years ago.

This second blog I intend to dedicate to more wedding and portraiture photography.
